Flower Gardening For The Love Of It!

I Love June here in the Maritimes. It's wonderfully warm, the spring bulbs have all bloomed and are now fading but the peonies, chives and iris are just about ready to burst forth. The lilac trees and flowering craps are at their height of splendor right now as well, and the fragrant air is marvelous. This is my favourite time for getting the hanging baskets and containers filled with a glorious profusion of annuals. The one in the picture above has trailing petunias, biddens - beautiful!!
I was out today checking on the growth in my flower beds. Things are coming along very nicely. I noticed the growth was quite vigorous on the clematis which I thought was dead two weeks ago. Definitely NOT dead! That's the clematis that was supposed to be White, but when it finally bloomed for the first time last year, it was purple. I planted a Red and White clematis because I thought intertwining them would make for a spectacular show. The red one did die and the white one...well... we know what happened to the white one.
Remember I was telling you folks about the dozen geraniums I managed to nurse through winter 2006, and then killed them all before Christmas 2007... Well, I've decided what I'm going to replace them with. More geraniums! LOL I had most of them lining both sides of my steps last year in a variety of different colours and pots. It looked fabulous. This year I'm going to do almost the same but add some lobelia. It's always available at local garden centers, but if not, then yellow wallflower might be kind of pretty too.

I'm always looking for deals or coupons when purchasing anything online for my garden. Most of the gardening merchants I shop at and feature here on my site have % off built right into the link. I embed the code so that when you click on the picture or link, the discount is automatically calculated no matter what you buy from that site. I learned a long time ago, that there's no sense buying online unless #1 - I can't get it around my home and #2 - I can get it for less online.
If I can get you a really sweet deal on whatever you need for your garden, then My job is done!! Happy hunting.
